Finland attacker with "huge knife" stabbed 'mum with baby in pram' and 'constantly stabbed woman on ground'

A knife-wielding attacker 'kept constantly stabbing' his terrified victims during a horrifying rampage in Finland, a tearful eyewitness said.

Witness Kent Svensson broke down as he described the horror as the attacker knifed 'several people' in the centre of Turku this afternoon - including 'a woman and a baby' in a pram.

Early confused reports appear to suggest there may be as many as three attackers - and five women stabbed.

Mr Svensson told CNN he was sitting outside a cafe when he suddenly heard a woman scream - then saw a man with a "huge knife."

He said: "At first we thought it's just an internal fight between two people, (but then) I saw this guy with this huge knife in his hand and several time he was stabbing this person (a woman) who was on the ground.

&qu ot;He was turning around with his knife, flinging it everywhere and people were running in all directions.

"He was not saying anything, people were screaming and running.

"We were just talking about what happened in Barcelona and we think in Finland we are safe - It's neutral and people are safe and it just happens in front of our eyes."

Police have confirmed "several people have been knifed" in the centre of Turku this afternoon - including 'a woman and a baby' in a pushchair, according to local media.

Another eyewitness, Paimii Riikka Hagman, said: "People ran and yelled and it was a ter rible scandal. There were more people in it, it did not make it clear who was chasing and who was running away."

"Then there was more screaming, and so when a woman with an about one-year old child on a pram was stabbed.

"(There) was a lot of blood and he yelled and yelled. Then he fell to the ground.

"It seemed to take ages for the ambulance to arrive. The woman was already not moving at that point."

Video footage shot from an upper floor of a nearby building shows people fleeing in terror as cries sounding similar to 'Allahu Akbar' are heard in the background - although it's being reported that this phrase sounds very similar to 'beware!' in Finnish.
